National Debate Competition

The National Debate Competition, organized by the Bal Education Trust, is a highly anticipated annual event that aims to promote critical thinking, public speaking, and intellectual discourse among school students across the country. The competition provides a platform for students to showcase their debating skills, exchange ideas, and learn from each other. Participants come from various schools and regions across India, making the event a truly national platform for intellectual exchange. The competition is judged by a panel of experienced educators and public speakers who evaluate the participants based on their argumentation, logical reasoning, and presentation skills. The National Debate Competition is a flagship event of Bal Education Trust’s commitment to promoting education and providing national exposure to students.

NDC 2024 Edition

Bal Education Trust is delighted to announce the forthcoming 2024 edition of its highly anticipated National Debate Competition. The competition will commence from 4 May 2024 and the registrations is open until 5 April 2024, 11:59 PM. The Competition is open to two age groups- Category I (Grade 6-8) and Category II (Grade 9-12). The Level 2 (State Level) will commence on 23 May 2024.

Note: The allocated slot cannot be changed and rescheduled since they are based on state and district division.

This prestigious event, conducted exclusively in the English Language and in virtual mode, comprises three progressive levels- District, State, and the National. At the District Level, participants will engage in a speech-only round, without a rebuttal round. Advancing to the State Level, only 40% of participants will qualify, engaging in both speeches and a challenging rebuttal round. The pinnacle of the competition is the National Level, where one exceptional finalist from each state will represent their state. To Honour participants, the competition offers generous prizes, including 11,000 INR + Certificate of Appreciation Recognised by Bal Education Trust + Trophy + Gold Medal for the winner, 5,000 INR + Certificate of Appreciation Recognised by Bal Education Trust + Trophy + Silver Medal for the 1st runner-up, and 2,500 INR + Certificate of Appreciation Recognised by Bal Education Trust + Trophy + Bronze Medal for the 2nd runner-up. The goal of this event is to promote national exposure, providing a platform for participants to present their ideas, and bring together individuals from various corners of the country.

Rules & Regulations for LEVEL 2 (STATE LEVEL) NDC’24

  • The date of commencement is not a date of competition.
  • Participants will get their slot allocation a day prior to the date of commencement.
  • There are no participation fees for the next level.
  • The allocated slot remains unchanged under any circumstance.
  • In the state level competition, each participant will have 120 seconds to present their opening statement, followed by the rebuttal round for the next 5 minutes. Cross-questioning is restricted to only two questions.
  • Participants will come to know about their sides of the topic during the competition. Participants are supposed to prepare both for the motion and against the motion.
  • Only one participant from all the states will qualify for the National/Final level of NDC’ 24.
